The Difference Between Wood Plastic Composite Decking and Anti-corrosion Wood Floor

Nowadays, many places are using wood plastic composite decking, indicating that the popularity of this type of flooring is increasing, and the presence of wood plastic composite decking can be seen in many occasions. Even in engineering design drawings, many explicitly specify the use of plastic wood flooring, and the usage of anti-corrosion wood flooring, which was commonly used in the past, is slowly reducing. So, what are the differences between these two types of flooring?

Understanding wood plastic composite decking

Wood plastic composite decking is made of wood-plastic composite materials, with processing characteristics similar to wood, and can be cut, drilled, and nailed with ordinary tools, which is very convenient and can be used as regular wood. At the same time, it has the wood texture and plastic waterproof and anti-corrosion characteristics, making it a high-performance and very durable outdoor waterproof and anti-corrosion building material.

What are the differences between wood plastic composite decking and anti-corrosion wood flooring?

Less installation loss. The installation loss of wood plastic composite decking is significantly less than that of anti-corrosion wood. In actual construction, it can be found that under the same construction area and volume conditions, the loss of wood plastic composite decking is much less. This flooring is a profile, and it can be customized according to the actual size needs of the project, including the length, width, and thickness of the material. However, the length of anti-corrosion wood cannot be changed, and it is usually 2 meters, 3 meters, 4 meters or more. Compared with wood plastic composite decking, it cannot be used according to the actual situation, so in terms of loss, wood plastic composite decking has an advantage.

No need for additional processing. The surface of wood plastic composite decking has been processed before leaving the factory, and no paint treatment is needed. However, after the construction of anti-corrosion wood, the surface of the wood needs to be painted or coated with some waterproof materials according to the usage and environmental changes.

Low maintenance cost. Wood plastic composite decking has a significant advantage in that it can be basically maintenance-free, based on its characteristics. Even if the surface is worn off, the inner material is the same as the surface material. Due to the influence of various environmental factors such as temperature and humidity, anti-corrosion wood generally needs to be maintained and painted within a year after construction. Therefore, from a long-term perspective, the maintenance cost of wood plastic composite decking is much lower than that of anti-corrosion wood.
