Experts from the Forest Chemistry Division of the Chinese Academy of Forestry Visited Sundi to Conduct Specialized Seminars on Biomass Composite Material Technology Upgrade

On November 2nd, Fang Guigan, Deputy Director of the Institute of Forest Products and Chemical Industry of the Chinese Academy of Forestry, Sun Yunjuan, Associate Researcher (Academic Secretary of Academician Jiang Jianchun), Dr. Yang Zhongzhi, Deputy Director of the Research Department, and others visited our company on behalf of the Forest Chemicals Institute to conduct a special research seminar on the upgrading of biomass composite materials technology.


After visiting the production workshop of wood-plastic materials and the lightweight steel/wood-plastic assembled model room at Sundi Company's Gaochun Base, the two parties had in-depth discussions on the application issues of wood-plastic composite materials. Researcher Fang Guigan proposed that wood-plastic composite materials should achieve breakthroughs in chemical composites, rather than just staying at the level of physical compounding. Both parties agreed in the discussion that in the existing wood-plastic manufacturing system, wood powder only acts as a filler, and the entire granulation and extrusion process is still in a linear two-dimensional system. The highest performance achieved can only be used as a quasi-structural material. How to achieve chemical modification of wood powder through high-tech means, add a transition section in the granulation and extrusion process, and transform the wood/plastic composite from a linear two-dimensional structure to a T-shaped three-dimensional structure, which is expected to make wood-plastic materials structural materials, reduce the use of resin materials, and even produce high-strength wood-plastic materials without the use of resin materials. This is a very meaningful issue for the upgrading and replacement of wood-plastic composite materials.


The two parties also extensively discussed the surface treatment of wood-plastic composite materials, expanding the application scope of wood-plastic composite materials, biomimetic manufacturing of wood-plastic composite materials, transformation and upgrading of biomass plasticization technology, and how to improve the natural texture of wood-plastic composite materials. Yang Zhongzhi, Deputy Director of the Research Department of the Forest Chemicals Institute, stated that based on the current understanding of wood-plastic composite materials, there are many areas where both parties can cooperate in the future. The Forest Chemicals Institute is willing to use its professional technical strength to promote the upgrading and replacement of Sundi Company's technology and products, so that the combination of "production/research/education" between the enterprise and the research unit can be realized, and both parties can harvest in the cooperation and achieve a win-win situation in participating in the project.


Liu Jia, Secretary-General of the Wood-Plastic Composite Materials Professional committee, who accompanied the investigation and research, thanked Academician Jiang Jianchun, the leaders and researchers of the Forest Chemicals Institute for their concern and support for the wood-plastic industry, and hoped that the assistance of the research institutions could help the wood-plastic industry reach new heights during the "14th Five-Year Plan".
